PixController, Inc. placed 3rd in the 2017 UPS X-Port Challenge in Philadelphia, PA on October 26th. The UPS X-Port Challenge is a promotion to help support small businesses, start-ups and entrepreneurs in their export initiatives. Ten finalists were selected by UPS to pitch the judges on why their business is ready for the global marketplace. EPA "Advance Septic Nitrogen Sensor Challenge" Winner

PixController, Inc. was declared the 3rd place winner in the EPA "Advanced Septic Nitrogen Sensor Challenge" winning $10,000 behind the University of Connecticut and Stanford University on June 29th in New York City. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) in collaboration with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and The Nature Conservancy (TNC) sensor challenge was created to identify the best designs for technologies to monitor nitrogen concentration in effluent from advanced Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems (OWTS). The top entries received awarded cash prizes totaling $45,000, and given the chance to network with industry leaders, regulators, and advanced OWTS test centers to potentially seek prototype funding. Murrysville's PixController to be featured on National Geographic's 'Earth Live'

National Geographic is pitching its latest endeavor as “the Super Bowl or Olympics of the natural world.”

“Earth Live” on July 9 will collect live-camera feeds from all over the world to show nature in real time. Two of those cameras will be streaming video from Murrysville.

“We see a deer and we think, ‘No big deal.' But a lot of people have never seen that before,” said Bill Powers, president and CEO of Murrysville-based PixController, whose live wildlife feeds will contribute to the show. click here to continue reading

Murrysville firm awarded for gas well methane leak detection device

A Murrysville company is gaining federal and international recognition for developing a product that can wirelessly monitor and transmit data on methane leaks at active and abandoned gas well sites.
Earlier this spring, PixController's Optical Methane Emissions Detection System (OMEDS) won the LoRa Alliance's second annual Global “Internet of Things” Challenge for Innovation, held in Barcelona, Spain. The alliance is an association of 400 companies that support the LoRaWAN standard for low-power wide area networks, a way for battery-operated devices to wirelessly transmit data efficiently.

The LoRa Alliance is a leading technology of low-power and long range wide area networks for the "Internet of Things" (IoT). The global challenge focused on creating a safer and smarter sustainable world with four solution submission categories of food, water, health and safety, and received 234 entries in this years challenge. The top three entries competed at the Mobile World Congress were from Israel, Belgium, and the USA.

PixController, Inc. won the Silver Award in the Dell IoT "Connect What Matters" contest. Sixteen winners were selected from 1,000 applications representing 93 countries. Winners were selected on the IoT Innovation and Business Impact.

PixController, Inc. was the winner of the IoT Evolution Fast Pitch contest competition in Las Vegas on August 18th for both the Judges Award and People's Choice Award.

Competition drives innovation, I’m told, and it’s certainly proved to be the truth at the second annual Fast Pitch by AT&T competition, held this week at IoT Evolution Expo, at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The winner of the $10,000 grand prize was Pix Controller, a company with an innovative energy IoT solution.

There were 10 finalists selected for the final live pitch session from more than 60 who initially auditioned. The finalists each did a three-minute live pitch for their IoT solution, and the three AT&T executives from the company’s IoT division evaluated each before selecting a winner.

Some 250 years since the American bald eagle nested along all three of Pittsburgh’s rivers, the iconic bird is making a comeback -- and a live webcam is capturing the eaglets hatching in real-time.
Six adult eagles have been spotted in nests the birds built along three of the city's major rivers in Allegheny County -- one nest on the Monongahela River, another within view of the Allegheny River and a third in an undisclosed location along the Ohio River.

Webcam to capture eagles in nest overlooking Monongahela River

The Pennsylvania Game Commission and a Murrysville company set up the state's first eagle nest video camera in Hays for live streaming on the Internet.

Workers from the commission and PixController Inc. mounted the camera, perhaps the first ever with remote tilt and zoom capabilities on an eagles' nest, on a steep wooded hillside overlooking the Monongahela River on Friday.

Trib Total Media, parent company of the Tribune-Review, will stream the live feed on its website beginning in February through nesting season in the summer. The Game Commission, the nest cam host WildEarth.TV and PixController also will offer footage.

Pittsburgh's bald eagle pair reared one young chick this year, which was the first successful eagle nesting in the city in more than 200 years, according to game commission officials.
